Highlights
Faith, Hope, and Trick - This is the first good episode of the season, in my opinion. We are introduced to a new slayer Faith (Eliza Dushku)
who I can already tell I'm going to like. I honestly thought Kakistos
was going to be the big bad guy of the year. Why else would he need a
posse? Anyways, it was an episode that could've been better, but with
the return of Angelus, it sets up the next few episodes quite nicely.
Lover's Walk - This quite possibly might have been the best episode of Buffy thus far. First of all, the return of my boy Spike makes this episode automatically awesome. You've got so many storylines all meeting in this one episode. Dru left Spike who kidnaps Willow and Xander get caught cheating by Oz and Cordy who gets impaled by a stake. Fragmented sentence? Yes. Great episode? Yes, as well.
The Wish - Another quite fine episode. Newcomer Anya grants Cordelia's wish that Buffy never came to Sunnydale. What we get is a "It's a Wonderful Life" type episode. Very cool as we get to see evil Xander and evil Willow.
Helpless - Oh... as a right of passage, Buffy is forced to lose her powers and go up against a powerful demon. Unfortunately, Giles won't let her go through with it and he gets the boot as her watcher.
Doppelgangland - Again, we get to see evil Willow. Something happens during a spell Willow is casting for Anya and an alternative Willow is brought to the real world. Also, my girl Faith continues turning into a bad Slayer which is a role Eliza Dushku is perfect for.
Earshot - Initially, this episode was postponed because it actually was set to air the week after Columbine. Buffy gets the power to hear people's thoughts. One day at school, she hears a voice say "...by this time tomorrow, you'll all be dead" and the crew has to figure out who is planning on taking out the school. Very cool episode with a bit of a surprise ending.
The Prom - How can the Prom episode from any teenage drama show not be amongst the highlights? Buffy, who is dateless after Angel decides he is going to move away, has to save the prom from demons who are trained to attack people in formalwear. No lie - you can't even make something like that up!
