The Boondock Saints
Vigilante justice to the extreme... ya gotta love it! The MacManus Brothers are two Irish boys who think it is their Catholic duty to rid the world of evil. Also starring the brilliant Willem Dafoe as an overtly gay FBI agent and the brilliant comedian Billy Connolly in the completely unfunny role as the human killing machine Il Duce.

Rear Window
For many people, this is the best Hitchcock movie. While I personally like North by Northwest and Psycho a little better, you will find no arguement that this isn't a great movie from me. Instead of using fancy camera tricks like Vertigo, a crazy twist ending like Psycho, or chase scene after chase scene like North by Northwest, Rear Window is the great movie that it is because Hitchcock is the king of suspense. He proves he doesn't need eerie music or anything - just one room, one window, a few characters and voila - movie magic!

Made
All of my friends that have seen this have come out hating Vince Vaughn. The truth is his Ricky role absolutely makes Made much like his role of Trent absolutely "made" Swingers (play on words, baby!) Jon Favreau and Vaughn star as two boxers who go on a trip to New York to do some small-time money laundering for Max (or as I call him, Columbo). They, and by they I mean Ricky, keep messing up in hilarious ways and keep digging deeper and deeper into trouble.

Leon the Professional
I'm starting to feel like I should have a fancy echo-y voice to say the numbers. Anyways, this movie is unbelievably under the radar to most of the American public. Film buffs recognize it as being one of the better flicks of the 90s. It's hard to believe you'd find a movie about the relationship of an assassin and a 12-year old girl heartwarming, but in a way, Leon the Professional truly is. Do yourself a favor and get "Leon the Professional" and not just "The Professional." The Leon version has about 20 minutes of extra footage that is vital to the movie. By the way, Gary Oldman is at his finest in this flick.

Full Metal Jacket
The first half hour of this movie is absolutely hilarious. I know it's not supposed to be, but I suppose that's because I'm not the one who's getting yelled at. Basically, it's a movie that conveys the message that boot camp is hell and war ain't any better. While it seems like two completely different movies, it does suck you in and make you be glad you're sitting on the couch instead of sitting behind a tree with a rifle in hand.

Panic Room
My big question for you is where did this come from? Among all the hype and hoopla surrounding the other summer blockbusters comes this thriller that does so many things right that so many movies try and fail. David Fincher is such the man and this is just another fine example. Like Rear Window, he proves you can be suspensful and make a good movie within the confines of a small area and without using massive amounts of CGI.

This is Spinal Tap
The king of the fake documentaries! For fans of metal or fans of documentaries, this movie is the ultimate comedic punch in the face. It's one of those movies you may not "get" the first time, but if you are like me, you'll come to appreciate with each further viewing. If you do get this movie, check out the DVD commentary featuring the cast of the movie in character... it's as funny as watching the movie all over again.

Pinocchio
Old school animated Disney movies are where it's at. This is a great story that's been since nearly killed by countless terrible live versions. While the movie may seem like it should be dated nowadays, but the story is timeless and the animation is beautiful. The perfect blend of comedy, drama, and action results in one of the greatest kids movies of all time.

Tora! Tora! Tora!
A better pearl harbor movie than the movie named "Pearl Harbor." Go figure... then again, it wasn't exactly hard to top that terrible flick. Tora! Tora! Tora! is a movie that shows two sides to the Pearl Harbor invasion and it doesn't glorify war the way that Michael Bay crapfest did. The action scenes were actually realistic and the story

A Few Good Men
A great courtroom/military Rob Reiner flick. The cast is pretty unbelievable - Cruise, Demi, Nicholson, Sutherland, Bacon, Pollack - these are heavy hitters folks! The story is about a couple Marines who are accused of beating a fellow Marine to death. While it's believed that the marines are guilty, Kaffee (Cruise), Weinberg (Pollack) and Galloway (Moore) are unsure whether or not they will be able to convince the court of law.
